Fred and his famous ice cream freezer built in Corsica. The first place that we
were able to get ice. The freezer was built from parts of a bomb winch from a B-24
aircraft, a gasoline engine from an aircraft fuel service pump, a few other parts that
were fabricated. Ice cream was a big treat. Not many GI’s had ice cream in the
field mess hall.
